ABSTRACT:

The purpose of this presentation is for the audience to gain a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges dealing with floodplain development. Th presenter of this course will provide an overview on NFIP (National Flood Insurance Program) and current Philadelphia floodplain regulations. An overview about the City's review requirements and process will be detailed with practical resources and best practices.

Learning Objectives:
• Learn the background to the NFIP and floodplain regulations
• Explore the floodplain zoning and building code regulations for the City of Philadelphia
• Education on guides and resources related to floodplain development
• Process for Zoning and Building permits

SPEAKER BIO:

Josh Lippert is the Floodplain Manager for City of Philadelphia and the chair of the City's Flood Risk Management Task Force. He also serves on the Pennsylvania Association of Floodplain Managers board as vice chair. His background is in landscape architecture and environmental planning, with work in the private sector as well as with the City of Pittsburgh.

The meeting price for non-members who wish to receive a Certificate of Attendance for the PDH is $10.00 ($3.00 for meeting + $7.00 for certificate).
